Disease of Mustard are below with solutions:
White Mold Disease of Mustard (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) is a fungal disease
Usually, this disease is more common in stems and flowers, especially at the stage of growing flowers. It is a seed and soil borne disease. Moreover, this disease spreads very quickly through the air. In the early stage, the tissue of the mustard plant’s stem becomes soft and long water-soaked spots appear. The scar on the affected part is enlarged and white cotton-like mycelium can be seen. If the level of attack is high, the tree dries up and early maturity is seen. If you cut a dry tree, you can see small black fungus balls inside the stem. Integrated suppression management: The stem rot disease can be avoided by sowing mustard seeds within the first week of November. Treated with Provex 200 at the rate of 2.5 g/kg seed and sown. If the disease appears after sowing, adding Rovaral or Foliku (2.0 g/liter) to water and applying it 3 times (at the growth stage, during the flowering and fruiting stages), the mustard stem rot disease is suppressed.
Downy Mildew Disease of Mustard (Peronospora brassicae) is a fungal disease
This disease appears at any time after the seedling stage. A white powder can be seen under the affected leaves. If the attack is more, the leaves get scorched and wrinkled, as a result, the yield decreases. Integrated suppression management: Use a balanced fertilizer. Do not cultivate mustard in affected field every year. Harvest in stages. Before sowing seeds, do seed treatment (Vitavex – 2.5 grams or 2 grams of detergent per kg of seeds). If the attack of the disease is severe, spray by mixing 2 grams of Dithen M, 2 grams of Ridomel or 2 grams of Melody Duo per liter of water.
Leaf Blight Disease of Mustard (Alternaria brassicae & Alternaria brassicicola)
This disease can be seen on the lower leaves of the tree. In the attack of the fungus, black spots of various sizes can be seen on the leaves and stems. Later, these spots merge and gradually create big spots. If the attack is more, the leaves get scorched, so the yield decreases. Integrated suppression management: Sowing disease-free seeds. Use of resistant varieties. Before sowing seeds, treat with 2 grams of Bavistin or Provex or Vitatex 2.5 grams/1 kg of seeds. Sow seeds by November 15. After 50 days of sowing, this disease can be successfully suppressed by mixing 2.0 gm/liter of Rovaral with water and spraying it 3 times after 10 days. If the attack is more, spray Roveral or Dithen M-45 by mixing 2 grams in 1 liter of water.
